For my adventure of learning to operate Procreate and make digital art I will be using tutorial videos from one specific YouTube channel. The artist named Flo leads users through informative instructional content that is posted free of charge and frequently updated.
Procreate is becoming increasingly accepted across the digital design world and job market, and is often listed as an on-par alternative to Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. From a financial stand-point it is substantially superior to the Adobe programs. Procreate comes in at a one-time purchase price of $18.89, while the others have been changed to subscription purchase models and no longer allow users to buy the programs outright. Adobe charges either $27.99/month for each of the listed programs, or you can subscribe to them all, and more for $71.99/month which comes in at whopping $863.88/year! Not very accessible for non-professional digital designers so I will stick to learning Procreate and I hope you will join me!
I will follow the videos and create art alongside Flo while documenting the different techniques each tutorial focuses on or introduces. I wonder if my art pieces will show improvement in the short nine weeks of this project, and if it will be as enjoyable as creating physical art? Check back in to see the progress!
